About the Job
As one of our first hires in our China procurement team, you will build the function from the ground up and prepare it for series production. This role combines strategic ownership with hands‑on execution, shaping our supplier landscape and enabling a scalable, cost‑efficient supply chain. Target start date for this role is June to September.
Your Tasks
Procurement Organization Setup
- Set up procurement processes, governance, and policies for a startup environment
- Define make-or-buy, localization, and supplier footprint strategies
- Establish procurement KPIs, reporting, and cost transparency
- Act as interface between China operations and global headquarters in Germany and work closely with other functions
- Identify, evaluate, and nominate local and international suppliers in China and the Asian region
- Lead RFQs, supplier negotiations, contract awards, and long-term agreements within the Asian market
- Manage strategic supplier relationships and partnerships
- Ensure supplier readiness for prototype, pilot, SOP, and ramp-up phases
- Own BOM cost structure, target costing, and should-cost analysis
- Drive cost optimization, localization savings, and continuous cost improvements
- Manage tooling investments, amortization, and supplier capacity planning
- Identify and mitigate supply, quality, and IP risks
Your Profile
- 8+ years experience in automotive purchasing or commodity management
- Proven experience in sourcing electric motor, e-drive, powertrain or electromechanical components
- Strong understanding of electric motor and e-drive component technologies and their manufacturing processes as well as their cost drivers
- Structured, analytical and cost-driven mindset
- Strong communication and negotiation skills in corss-cultural environments
- Ability to work independently in a fast-grwoing SOP-driven organization
- Fluent in English and Chinese
